Work has begun on the construction of the St. Veterans Memorial, which will take place on the south-east corner of Mast Boulevard և Fanita Park, near Lake Sasté, on Veterans Day 2021.
The stone sign with the new name of the bridge over the mast, which was first dedicated in 1992 – the Sante Laker Bridge, will tell later: Sant Veterans Memorial.
Memorial կլինեն The monument will be located in one of the main gates of the city near Route 52.
Both aim to provide a physical space for veterans to honor, recognize, and remember the wars in which they fought and appreciate their service, said City Council member Dustin Trotter, who is the organizer of the monuments.
“This is something that has been on my mind for at least five years,” said Trotter, who was elected last November. “I was inspired by the memorials in Washington, D.C. I wanted to turn our own Santee on it. I am convinced that we must respect the people who have served our country, past and present. “
Last month, Trotter informed the city council of his plans to work with other stakeholders in the Santi Chamber of Commerce to raise money specifically for the monument and the bridge sign. He said both items will cost about $ 60,000. Trotter’s TDT Construction has already begun creating the two pieces, based on a collaboration between Trotter and Santee resident Michael Ranson.
“Interior designer Ranson helped illustrate and expand Trotter’s ideas by creating an 11-foot-11-foot 11-foot structure program that” recognizes the origins of Veterans Day և 11, the end of World War I, the 11th day of the 11th month, “Ranson said.
The structure, which has internal and external walls, will include a seal indicating each branch of the army. There will be a bronze crown at the top of the interior. The monument will sit at a wild angle to create a layout with no front or back, giving equal importance to each branch of the army, Ranson said.
“Land of the Free / For the Brave” will be written in two letters wrapped around the top of the monument. There will be six concrete seating cylinders in place, one for each military branch.

Santi resident Michael Ranson worked with Santi Political Council member Dustin Trotter on plans for the Veterans Memorial, which will be located above Lake Santi 2.

Ranson noted that the selected plaster և stone materials will complement the site և the natural environment of the city of Santi. Soothing shades were “deliberately chosen to create a soothing, reflective experience,” he said.
Deteriorated granite սահմանափ Limited landscaping of local plants will be used to enhance the natural beauty of the site.
Trotter noted that there are plans to create flags of lighting poles along the bridge on Mast Boulevard, which will honor various military branches.
Other future plans may include special lighting for the monument, as well as memorial plaques to veterans that may be placed on the fence over Fanita Park.
Although there is a U.S. Maritime Monument Trail and Monument in downtown Community Park near Kuyamaka Street that honors two naval units, the Monument near Lake Sante will honor all six branches of the military: Army, Navy, Air Force, Air Force, Marine Corps. protection և space guards.
Former California Mayor Randy Voepel, a member of the California State Assembly who has made two naval tours in Vietnam, called the monument designs “outstanding.”
“I always say that there are three days when America respects its military,” said Voepel of Sacramento. “Day of Ed For all those who now wear the uniform, Veterans Day for all those who used to wear the uniform, օր Remembrance Day for those who have never worn the uniform.”
The Chamber of Commerce of Santiago is working with Trotter to raise funds.
The executive director of the chamber, Kristen Darren, said the chamber saw the potential of the project and knew that working with Trotter և TDT Construction was a “great place”.
“Santi is a community rich in veterans, with so much military pride,” Dare said. “We appreciate the contributions of all those who have served and are honored to collaborate on such a powerful project. “The idea of erecting a monument to the men and women of our country who served our country shows our appreciation, our respect for those who have defended (us), for those who continue to uphold our freedoms.”
He said people who want to contribute to the project can pay for inspections at the Santi Chamber of Commerce and send them to 9625 Mission Gorge Road, # B2-315 Santee, CA 92071.
