
EL CAON, California – An earlier suspect in a shooting that police say fired at an officer was killed by police in the town of El Cajon on Thursday.
The first officer who shot and wounded one person spotted someone who matched the shooter’s description as he walked near the intersection of Ballard and Decker streets south of Interstate 8.
“When the officer approached, the suspect immediately opened fire on the officer while he was still in his car,” Ransweiler said. “The officer was able to return fire by hitting the suspect at least once.”

The officer was not injured.
The suspect and the victim of the first shooting were taken to the hospital by the medical staff for the treatment of undetected serious injuries.

The suspect later died, police said.
According to the El Kakho Police Department, the first shooting took place at 2 p.m. Around 15, at 1100 East Main Street.
The name of the suspect and the details of the circumstances of the initial shooting are not immediately known.
