Hello Santa! What is the difference between one year? On the weekends of Remembrance Day, the Palace traditionally holds the Sant Street Fair behind Trolley Square. For those who have been present and privileged to see Remembering Our Fallen in recent years, it was our honor to pay a small tribute to those we have lost in the service of our great country. I look forward to bringing this travel and memorial exhibition back to Santi. Last year, when we canceled the event, I never thought we would not be able to plan the 2021 Street Fair on the same holiday weekend. We were very disappointed, but we have high hopes, as we aim to host Santee’s biggest block party on September 4 this year, capturing Labor Day Saturday, offering a possible footprint similar to previous years, while bringing new, fun surprises for those present. As for this year, I was able to see my favorite place in the city for Veterans Addiction: Local VFW / American Legion Post. The post had financial difficulties, like many other organizations, but continues to push for fundraising efforts to keep its head above water. It was so much fun to volunteer with Mayor John on Minto ึ Randy Voepel’s congregation to work as bartenders, as we encouraged guests to be generously informed as all the money raised remained in that position. For those who missed the event, you can check out their Facebook page for future gatherings open to the public.
