SANTI, California – Firefighters were removing a brush in Sante, prompting some residents of the neighborhood to evacuate in the afternoon on Monday, according to the Santi Fire Department.
The fire, which was reported at around 2 p.m., burned half an acre west of 320 Town Center Parkway. The fire covered the area ակա nearby vegetation in the smoke.
Roads nearby were closed, as was a bypass road as officials worked to put out the blaze.
The forest fire threatened some vehicles in the parking lot, which may have caused some damage due to the smoke. It was unclear whether the apartment building had been damaged by smoke, but Garlow confirmed that the building had not ignited and that the brush fire had been extinguished.
“The wind was blowing [the building] so for a moment it probably seemed to be burning, ”he said.
The fire was responded to by the Santi Fire Department, San Diego County Fire Department and the Laxide Fire Department.
