The scenario includes an overturned boat in search of a drowning victim. Six SAR K-9 aircraft will follow the boats along the shore of the lake. Dogs will warn their owners when they find an odor. This finding will serve as a guide for the Dive Team to narrow the search space for recovery.
The San Diego area is surrounded by water. Cars get off the road, people can fall into ports. Criminals can also hide evidence, stolen cars, weapons and even victims under water. Exercise helps volunteers understand the capabilities of each unit during a call.
There are currently 17 volunteers on the Sheriff’s diving team. They come from a variety of backgrounds, including military, medicine, law, engineering, information technology, security, and firefighting. They are all certified. Some have master’s degrees in forensic science. They are called 24 hours a day to find human remains, weapons and stolen goods, which are thrown into shallow, deep water. Evidence can be as big as an airplane փոքր as small as a pocket knife.
Sheriff Search և Salvation is a volunteer unit. Together, they carry out desert and urban rescue operations, as well as search for missing and endangered people. Teams are available 24 hours a day to respond to inquiries from local, state, or federal agencies.
The: Dive Team: and SAR: are always looking for volunteers. For more information, visit: www.sdsheriff.gov/volunteer:.
