SPRING VALLEY, California. The former co-chair was behind bars on Monday on suspicion of killing a woman who was shot dead in a parked car in Spring Valley three months ago.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Mer Amerio Austin, 26, of San Diego, is accused of fatally wounding on the night of April 24 and killing 40-year-old Carmen Anderson, who died in hospital a few days later.
The sheriff’s deputies responded to Bancroft Drive 3600 at 11 p.m. Around 30, reporting the shooting, but by the time he arrived, Anderson had been taken to hospital.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation into the shooting on Sunday led to Austin, who did not find out what prompted investigators to identify him as a suspect in Anderson’s murder, as well as the connection, if any, with the victim.
Austin has been jailed in San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of murder, assault with a firearm or felony criminal mischief, and is being held without bail.
