SAN DIEGO COUNTY, California – The American Red Cross is looking for blood բ platelet donors as volunteers in preparation for forest fires and other emergencies throughout the San Diego area.
“This year’s forest fire season is already very active and dangerous because of the severe drought and dry forests in our region,” said Debbie Lee, Red Cross Regional Officer for Southern California.
“After several years of record forest fires, the Red Cross is already responding to dozens of communities, asking you to train now to volunteer for the Red Cross and help if needed.”
Volunteers are required
The Red Cross needs new volunteers to support disaster shelters. Volunteers help with reception, registration, food distribution, dormitory, information gathering, and other important issues in disaster shelters. Both entry-level and control-level capabilities are available.
The Red Cross needs volunteers who can work in disaster shelters to care for people’s health needs, to provide practical assistance in accordance with their professional license (registered nurse, licensed practitioner / licensed professional nurse).
